Southwest to west winds will increase this weekend and into the day on Memorial Day across Southwest through North Central Montana, with the strongest winds expected on Memorial Day. Area lakes, reservoirs, and long fetches of rivers will become rough and choppy, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. While air temperatures will be in the 70s to low 80s water temperatures remain significantly colder at between 45° to 55°. Cold shock can be just as severe and dangerous from water temperatures of 50° to 60° as it is from water at 35°.
