There is a 10-30% chance of thunderstorms developing this afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front over north-central Minnesota and northwest Ontario. A few of the storms may become severe with large hail to half-dollar size (1.25 inch diameter), wind gusts of 45-65 mph, brief heavy rain, and occasional lightning. There is a Marginal Risk of severe storms (level 1 of 5) for a small portion of the inland Arrowhead this afternoon and evening. The storms will move southeastward along the front through this evening and will exit the Northland to the east before midnight. Storm chances are less than 10% over the Brainerd Lakes and inland portions of northwest Wisconsin.
